French Culture

In class:
  • Read more in the Georges Seurat book and continued our pointillism paintings.
Homework:
  • 2nd period: Bring your French food to class tomorrow for our French party in honor of our last day of class.
  • 9th period: If you have not already done so, bring a folder to class tomorrow specifically for this class. Make sure you have a pencil and paper with you everyday. Also, be sure to buy 3x5 note cards by Monday for your current events and new French words assignments.

French II

En classe:
  • Discussed act./etc.
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French.
  • Shared the final copies of the family essays with the class and handed them in.
  • Began a rough draft of a cartoon to be placed in the portfolio using Unités 1 and 2 vocabulary.
Les devoirs:
  • Study for Thursday's quiz on Unité 1. Spelling counts!
  • Complete your cartoon rough draft and bring it to class on Wednesday. If you are going to be on a field trip on Wednesday, complete your rough draft and final copy for Thursday. Your final copy must be on a piece of 8x10 white paper. Use color to illustrate your cartoon!

En classe:

  • Reviewed Leçon 1 vocabulary and accent marks.
  • Began sketching/writing a cartoon to place in the portfolio using Leçon 1 vocabulary and anything we have learned so far this year.
Les devoirs:
  • Study for Thursday's quiz on Unité 1 Leçon 1. Spelling counts!
  • Finish your rough draft of the cartoon. If you are going to be in class on Wednesday, bring your rough draft to class. If you are going on a field trip on Wednesday, finish the rough draft and the final copy and bring it to class on Thursday. Your final draft should be done on a piece of 8x10 white paper. Use color to illustrate your cartoon!

  • Read more from the Georges Seurat book and then began painting using his Pointillism technique.

9th period

In class:
  • Discussed current events and new French words found on artifacts.
  • Discussed the French art packet from last week and began reading from the Georges Seurat book in preparation for our Pointillism art project.
Homework:
  • Bring a folder to class on Wednesday specifically for French Culture.

En classe:
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French.
  • Reviewed Unité 2 vocabulary.
  • Learned the new words à gauche (to the left), à droite (to the right), derrière (behind), devant (in front) in order to play "Le labrynthe!"
Les devoirs:
  • Bring in news articles and French artifacts to class on Tuesday.
  • Study for Tuesday's quiz on Unité 1. Spelling counts!

French I

En classe:
  • Daily review questions and conversations.
  • Reviewed Unité 1 Leçon 1 vocabulary as well as the map of France activity which was passed out in class on Thursday.
  • Reviewed accents: é, à, ç, ï, â. Remember to practice the silly hand signs to help you study these accents!
  • Learned the new words à gauche (to the left), à droite (to the right), derrière (behind), devant (front) in order to play "le labrynthe!"
Les devoirs:
  • Bring in news articles and French artifacts on Tuesday.
  • Study for the Unité 1 Leçon 1 quiz on Thursday (the date has been changed due to field trips on Tuesday and Wednesday). Spelling counts!

  • Discussed the French art packet which was passed out in class on Thursday.
  • Read excerpts from a book on Georges Seurat and discussed his style and his most famous painting: La Grande Jatte.
  • Discussed overall themes of Le Petit Prince and impressions after finishing the story.
  • Watched Mlle Young's PowerPoint photo slide show of her recent trip to France and Luxembourg.
Homework:
  • Tuesday is your last day to bring in news articles and French artifacts.
  • Remember to bring in your French food on Thursday, Oct. 16th for our party!
9th period

In class:
  • Welcome to French Culture!
  • Read and discussed the syllabus.
  • Read excerpts from a book on Georges Seurat and discussed his style and his most famous painting: La Grande Jatte.
Homework:
  • Tuesday is your first day to bring in news articles and French artifacts.
  • On Tuesday, come to class with a folder specifically for French Culture.
