French I

**This week in French I, we will finish our study of Leçon 10 (pages 62-65), celebrate Mardi Gras and begin Leçon 11 (pages 66-69).**

Expression pour la semaine: "Jette-moi quelque chose, monsieur!"

En classe:
  • Discussion of articles and artifacts.
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French about the weekend, etc.
  • Completed activities 1-4 on pages 64 and 65 with a partner.
  • Used a white board with a partner and wrote down sample requests you'd ask a waiter based on scenarios given in French by Ms. Young.
Les devoirs:
  • Study the Mardi Gras vocabulary in order to play games on Tuesday.
  • Make/buy/bring a Mardi Gras mask to class on Tuesday for extra credit.
  • Study for Wednesday's quiz on Leçon 10.

French Culture

2nd period:
  • Finished watching Ms. Young's trip to Paris and Luxembourg photos on PowerPoint.
  • Discussed impressions of these photos (interests, fascinations, etc).
  • Reviewed the map of France/Europe for tomorrow's quiz.
  • Homework: Study for Tuesday's map quiz.

French II

En classe:
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French.
  • Mardi Gras vocabulary review in French.
  • Discussed and corrected the Mardi Gras Internet activity packet.
  • 5 stations around the room with different written and oral activities using the Leçon 21 vocabulary.
Les devoirs:
  • Make sure you hand in the Mardi Gras packet if you didn't do so already.

French I

En classe:
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French.
  • Mardi Gras vocabulary review in French.
  • Warm-up activity on overhead using the Leçon 10 vocabulary.
  • Completed an oral/communicative activity worksheet using role play between a server and a customer at a café.
  • Played the "flappeur" game with the Leçon 10 vocabulary note cards.
Les devoirs:
  • Complete the Mardi Gras Internet activity packet - due Friday.
  • Complete the Leçon 10 double-sided worksheet - due Friday.

French Culture

2nd period:
  • Completed the map of France/Europe activity in preparation for a quiz on Tuesday.
  • Watched the Travel Channel's DVD on Paris.
9th period:
  • Reviewed for Friday's map of France/Europe quiz.
  • Discussed French articles/artifacts.
  • Watched Ms. Young's PowerPoint photo presentation on Paris and Luxembourg.
  • Homework: Study for Friday's map quiz.

French II

En classe:
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French.
  • Warm-up activity (read brief descriptions of house/apartment terms and write down the French vocabulary word).
  • Completed the artifact/cultural packet with a partner and discussed as a class.
  • Completed activity 6 on page 195 in the textbook.
Les devoirs:
  • Mardi Gras extra credit project (decorations, card, word search, crossword puzzle, etc.) - due Thursday.
  • Mardi Gras Internet activity packet - due Thursday.

French I

En classe:
  • Daily review questions and conversations in French.
  • Created a chart on the board to differentiate between cold drinks and hot drinks served at a café.
  • Discussed the Leçon 10 vocabulary sheet.
  • Read the Note Culturelle about "le café" on page 63 as well as the Petit Commentaire on page 64 in the textbook.
  • Lengthy discussion on the café culture - wonderful job and excellent questions!
  • Finished the Leçon 10 video (periods 3 and 6 only).
  • Read and acted out scenes 1, 2, and 3 on page 62 in the textbook (period 1 and 6 only).
  • Completed activity 1 on page 64 with a partner (period 1 only).
Les devoirs:
  • Create note cards using all of the Leçon 10 vocabulary (French on one side and a drawing on the other) - due Thursday.
  • Mardi Gras extra credit project (decorations, card, word search, crossword puzzle, etc.) - due Thursday.
